Chris Hemsworth, The Tor, Revealed How He Challenges His Three Hyperactive Kids In Isolation

Just like the rest of us, celebrities across the globe are currently staying home as much as possible in a bid to combat the coronavirus crisis.

And it’s fair to say that some are having more fun than others — Jimmy Fallon and Ellen DeGeneres are hosting their talk shows from home, Demi Moore and Bruce Willis have started a family book club while Kim Kardashian is losing her goddamn mind.

But for celebs with children, the experience is even more testing thanks to schools closing, leaving them acting as both parents and teachers.

One celebrity in this position is Thor himself, Mr Chris Hemsworth, who’s currently bunkered down in Australia with his wife, Elsa Pataky, and their three children — India Rose, 7, and 6-year-old twins Sasha and Tristan.

However, it turns out that getting his kids to concentrate long enough to teach them anything has been challenging to say the least.

“Homeschooling them is an absolute challenge,” Chris said during a promotional video for Netflix. “It’s three hours of negotiation and maybe 20 minutes of actual work.”

“My children just crave interaction with other kids so much, obviously, and that’s a challenge,” he added.

He went on to joke during an Instagram story that his kids are “allergic to sitting down,” which has undoubtedly made the process more difficult.

But Chris did go on to say that he’s conscious of his children’s mental health during this time, and is hoping to keep stress and anxiety at bay as best he can.

“Kids are feeling anxiety and stress like us — probably more so because they don’t understand it, and it’s difficult for us to explain it to them,” he said before adding that he’s been trying out guided meditation apps with his children.

However, despite the challenges of homeschooling, Chris did reveal that ultimately the family are enjoying spending all this extra time together, especially considering his hectic work schedule over recent years.

“We’re just enjoying being together,” he said. “We’ve been dragged all over the world for many different reasons over the last few years, so it’s good to have time together.”

And it turns out spending more time at home was actually in Chris’s plan for this year — back in June 2019 he revealed he was planning to take a 12 month break from acting to be with his young family in Australia.

“This year I probably won’t shoot anything,” Chris told The Daily Telegraph. “I just want to be at home now with my kids. They are at a very important age. They’re still young and they are aware when I leave more than ever before.”

He went on to recall a time where he had to fly to London to shoot a movie after spending a few months at home in Australia, revealing that his daughter’s reaction to him leaving was devastating.

“She’s normally like, ‘Yeah, see you daddy, cool!’ he told GQ. “This time she was like, ‘Papa! Papa! Papa!’ I wasn’t, like, sobbing, but…”

However, I think it’s safe to say that Chris probably wasn’t expecting to be able to add “teacher” to his resumé by the end of his acting break!
